On March 7, My Husband’s youngest sister brought a beautiful baby girl into the world. Her name is Kennedy Lynn. Now, this little wonder weighed 7 pounds and 1 whole ounce. Perfect in every way. This is their first baby, and I know they are going to be wonderful parents.
Our girls, Emma and Gracie have not been able to see their new cousin, since we all have been fighting colds. Emma is just chomping at the bit to see Baby Kennedy. If you ask Emma about her, she says, “Baby Kennedy is my new cousin, and she is going to play with me, but not until she gets bigger. I just want to hold her for a little bit.” So, needless to say Emma is a bit excited about this new bundle of joy, and is a little tired of experiencing Kennedy through those few Kodak moments we captured to show her!
Kennedy brings the tally to 4 girls, on my husbands side of the family! Yes, this family is huge into football, and all we can produce is girls! I love each and every one of these little princesses, but I know my husband and father-in-law secretly hope for a little boy to come out of these pregnancies.
As for my husband and I, we are not sure if our family is complete yet, this is still a subject up for debate in our life. I do know, if we do have another child and it is a girl, I AM DONE. You remember the show 8 is Enough? Well, 3 is enough here! Whether it be 3 girls, or 2 girls and one boy. So that subject is definately TO BE CONTINUED!
Now, did you really think I was gonna take all these pictures and NOT hold this beautiful baby????? Ya, RIGHT!
Ok, I LOVE snow. But, there comes a point when Enough is Enough. I realize Spring is not until March 20th, but it has been cold then warm, cold then warm. We had days that were in the high 50’s then the next day it was in the teens. What is up with that? I have allergies, so I like it to get cold and stay cold for at least a couple of months. It has not done that this winter. The Night before last it froze rain for hours then dumped 6 to 8 inches of snow on top of it all. Apparently the Snow plows around here didn’t feel the need to clear the roads so my dear husband could make it home that night. A 25 minute drive wound up being a 50 minute white knuckled treacherous trip. My kids have an awful case of Cabin Fever. They are so full of energy, I wish they would burn it on something constructive, maybe do some laundry or mop the floor! Or just pick up some toys and put them away! As of right now they both are on antibiotics for sinus infections. So they can’t even go out and play in the snow, when it is on the ground. Emma loves the snow, we have our own little “sled”, I call it a laundry basket but when the snow flies it becomes a “state of the art snowmobile” Powered by MOMMY OR Aunt April! And let me tell ya like all other power it is not very plentiful! Since then, we have upgraded to a tiny tot sled, it has a seat and a belt. It is cute. Probably a little safer too. Although, Emma is not at all crazy about “hanging” on to Gracie while riding on the sled. My girls seem to like the snow. Emma tells us everytime it snows even the tiniest bit, “I just love to make snow angels!” I truly don’t think the child has ever made a snow angel, but she will one of these days! I just hope spring is coming soon!
I must say, I had a AMAZING Memory before I had children. Now when you are pregnant they call it Preggy Brain, and now that you are a mom they call it Mommy Brain. For those of you who are not familiar with these terms, let me explain. Have you ever had those times where you are keeping a list of things to pick up at the store? I try to do this, and usually succeed at making the list, BUT, the list loses its usefulness when IT is laying on the counter, and YOU are at the store. Or how about when the birthday party your little ones are invited to is on Sunday instead of Saturday, but you SWEAR its Saturday only to get to the destination and no one is there. No matter how many times you look at that invitation your brain thinks it has a much better idea. Well today, was a Mommy Brain kinda day. I had to make a trip to pay our payments, approximately 30 mins there and back. Thank Goodness for the phone call from my mother 5 mins after I left. The phone call went something like this……
Let me start by saying, It will be 5 years that my husband and I have been married this June. I have been a Mom for 3.5 years. Now with that said, When do I figure out how to “balance” these two wonderful positions. I am a housewife, SAHM, domestic engineer, whatever you want to call it, but this job has No Vacation time, No Sick Leave, and I dont get to leave after a shift! When I worked, I could call in sick, I got to go in at 8am and leave at 5pm and not even think about the place until the next work day. I want you to know I LOVE being a Wife, and a Mom! But let me tell ya, I really miss being able to just go lie down when I get tired. Or Sleep in and wake up on my own. These are things you don’t really think about when the BABY BUG bites. My oldest, Emma, comes into our bedroom and wakes me up usually between 7:30 and 9 (I prefer closer to 9), and sometimes she just climbs into the bed with us, but Most times she comes in like her pants are on fire, “MOMMY MOMMY, I need to POTTY!” Now there is just no time for me to rub my eyes, or put my glasses on, or even stretch. She wants me to come with her RIGHT NOW! She does this with such gusto that you are sure your next move should be to go outside to wait for the fire department. My poor Husband, he work until 12 midnight, so he is very much the night owl. I try to stay on his schedule but our girls have another plan altogether for me. Geoff and I only get a couple of hours alone and that is usually when he gets home. And by this point I have been up close to 18 hours straight sometimes. He tells me to just go on to bed, but Emma has come accustom to the late hours we keep and it is hard to get this child in bed before 10, let alone asleep before 11. Gracie, on the other hand, she is usually in bed by 9:30 at the latest. She also still takes 2 naps most days, so if I could just get them both to take a nap at the same time, maybe I could get a snooze in! NAWW! That RARELY happens. I love my kids and I know they will only be little for a short time, but why can’t I get a clone or a robot of me that I could just let loose when I need a break???? How did June Cleaver manage this, I am sure she had a body double, and she just went in the backyard and put her feet up and sipped some lemonade and ate her BonBons. I mean even Mrs. Brady had ALICE!

As you know, I am a Mom. Emma is our resident princess, everything is Disney Princess. She has the pillow, the blanket, bath towel, dresses, shoes, shirts, books, movies……you see where I am going with this. Emma has an obsession, EVERDAY, at some point, she takes off all her clothes except for her undies and goes to find her princess dress, she puts this on and her black dress shoes (aka glass slippers) and a beaded necklace or 2 or 3, however many she can find at the time. Then she finds a headband, (since her sister broke her TIARA). Now mind you it is winter and this child is in a sleeveless little ballerina dress, NO socks. She walks around asking Daddy and I to DANCE with her, and tells her sister to “FOLLOW me I am the Princess!” Now, Let me describe this little dress, it came in a Disney Princess Easter Basket last year. This dress has straps that have been graciously re-sewed more than once by her Grandma. and it has a “tutu” and she is getting much too tall for this outfit. And the Princess decal is fading and flaking off with each trip through the washer. I never was much of the Princess type growing up, so this is quite comical to me. I liked to play in the dirt and was dirty most of my toddler life! Emma is a wonderful princess, she should be she does this EVERYDAY! God Love her. Geoff and I have one little problem with this costume, and that is when she has her “glass slippers” on she inevitably ends up stepping on our toes and let me tell you, She may as well have Baseball Cleats on, ’cause it HURTS! And, when she does this she will say “OH, SORRY! ” and run about her royal duties. I know I have many, many years of princess adventures ahead of me, BUT I do believe I will be investing in some BALLET SLIPPERS or maybe some STEEL TOED BOOTS!
Writing a BLOG! I said I wouldn’t do it, but the temptation is just too great. All my friends are doing it so I should too! Even my dear Hubby told me the other day, “You should write a blog.” and to my surprise he was serious. I don’t know that you will find any life altering information on here, but maybe I will be able to at least make you smile or even get ya to laugh a little, and if this does happen my mission will be accomplished. As a married mother of two, My life is never boring. Right now my entire family (except me of course) has a nasty cold. My days have been filled with cough syrup and tissues for the last week. Not to mention, they are all CRANKY! Things are looking up though, unless of course I end up with this CRUD, who is gonna wipe my nose??? Let me tell ya, have you ever tried to clean a 1 year old’s crusty nose??? It is not fun, Gracie just does not like me very much when she wakes up, considering I go after her with a wet wipe and try to get those crusty off her poor little nose. Then she REALLY dislikes me when I try to put saline drops in her nose. Now mind you this child has never had a full blown cold before, so she is not at all happy about this. Now when it comes to my 3 year old, Emma, she is a whole other story. This child has allergies, and when she needs to blow her nose she just BLOWS no need to wait for us to get her a tissue. So needless to say, it is good she knows how to blow but we are still pleading with her to wait for a tissue. This is the boring account of my experience being a mom.
